Raven Ong is a Connecticut-based costume designer who designs both locally and internationally. Originally from the Philippines, Raven went to the USA in 2014 for further studies and obtained his MFA in Costume Design at the University of Connecticut (UCONN).
Three and a half years of design training at this university have opened so many doors for him, gaining connections and design opportunities with theater companies in New York City such as New York Lyric Opera, with which he designed shows performed at the Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall.
In Manila, Philippines, Raven was cited for his notable work on the international premiere of Kinky Boots, Matilda, Waitress and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. He was nominated Outstanding Costume design for Peter Pan: A Musical Adventure, Jekyll and Hyde, Alice in Wonderland and Rapunzel! Rapunzel! A Very Hairy Fairytale.
Raven was also awarded to travel to London to participate in design workshops at Shakespeare’s Globe and classes at the Globe Education. He represented the Philippines at the Prague Quadrennial Tribes in Prague, Czech Republic in the summer of 2015.
Raven received the Syracuse Area Live Theatre (SALT) Awards Best Costume Design for La Cage Aux Folles in 2018.
